After a series of clips from long-ago America’s Next Top Model cycles went viral, some viewers began to pile on host and lead judge Tyra Banks for what they saw as cruelty towards contestants and insensitive challenges.
The show debuted in 2003, and the way models are treated and viewed has come a long way since then. So has what is considered beautiful.
On May 8, Tyra responded to the criticism, but didn’t go so far as to apologize. “Been seeing the posts about the insensitivity of some past ANTM moments and I agree with you.
Looking back, those were some really off choices. Appreciate your honest feedback and am sending so much love and virtual hugs,” the 46-year-old tweeted, along with a red heart emoji.
