Citizens Advice Scotland (CAS) has revealed that more than two-thirds of Scots who are eligible for a UK Government payment to combat fuel poverty are not receiving it.
The study shows just 9.3 per cent of all households in Scotland have applied for the Warm Home Discount (WHD). The benefit, which is not a payment made to the household but a discount applied to a winter energy bill, knocks £140 off the bills of households across the UK.
However, CAS has said an estimated 29 per cent to 32 per cent of Scottish households are eligible. In a new report, CAS urges providers to better assist vulnerable customers in applying for the scheme.
