Two men in hospital after Rutherglen 'disturbance' as cops appeal for footage

Two men are in hospital following a 'disturbance' that saw police seal off a main road in South Lanarkshire. We told how police and paramedics scrambled to Rutherglen Main Street on Sunday afternoon.

The alarm was raised at around 2.45pm.Officers locked down an area near the town's Vogue Bar which blocked off access to nearby Victoria Place.

Video footage shows men wearing Celtic FC tops standing next to the paramedics. It is not know if they were involved in the incident.

At least two police vans were seen parked up near the scene alongside an ambulance and specialist paramedic vehicle.Police confirmed the 'disturbance' to the Daily Record just before 4pm on Sunday at which point officers were still on the scene.At around 5.40pm police revealed two men were rushed to hospital as a result of the incident.Their ages, the hospital they were taken to and the nature of their injuries were not disclosed.Enquiries are ongoing as officers work investigate the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.Witnesses with video footage of the incident or anyone with information is urged to come forward.A Police Scotland spokesman told the Record: “At around 2.45pm on Sunday, April 3 officers were called to a report of a disturbance in Main Street, Rutherglen."Two men were taken to hospital for treatment and enquiries into the incident remain ongoing."Anyone with information or potential video footage of the incident is urged to contact police on 101, quoting incident 1811 of April 3."
