Two men accused of murdering a taxi driver could go on trial next Spring. Connor McPartland, 20, and Martin Treacy, 18, have been charged with the murder of 39-year-old Ali Asghar.
Mr Asghar died on Sunday, two weeks after an alleged attack in Rochdale. READ MORE : Arrest after three car crash shuts major Manchester road Mr McPartland and Mr Treacy were originally charged with section 18 assault, but appeared in court again charged with murder following Mr Asghar's death.
No pleas were entered, and the case was adjourned until next year. A trial date was set for May 9. Manchester's courts are some of the busiest in the country with a vast array of cases heard every week.
