Strap in. Succession is gone and that will make a lot of these other Outstanding Drama Series contenders breathe a little easier this year.
Nevertheless despite that Emmy juggernaut now being out of the way, the category is offering up a lot of intrigue anyway giving Deadline Executive Editor and Chief TV Critic Dominic Patten and Deadline Awards Columnist and Chief Film Critic Pete Hammond a lot to chew on – as you can hear about in this week’s TV Talk podcast.
Especially chewy is the last minute maneuver by FX to announced two more seasons of what was thought to be their Limited Series, Shogun and then as all the speculation started boiling up they confirmed the series would instead be submitted as a Drama Series.
