TV One Networks, parent of cable networks TV One and Cleo TV, is planning a six-week test of a two-hour daytime talk block called Chat & Chew.

The Monday-to-Friday test run was announced by the Black programming specialist during a virtual event showcasing its 2024 slate. (Deadline exclusively reported highlights from the slate on Tuesday.) The new talk strip will replace The Real, a syndicated show hosted by Garcelle Beauvais, Adrienne Houghton, Loni Love and Jeannie Mai Jenkins that was canceled in 2022 after eight seasons. “We see an opportunity for a one-hour block of talk at the coffee table and a one-hour block of talk that takes place in the kitchen, at the kitchen table,” SVP of Programming and Production Austyn Biggers said. “We’re really excited about it because it allows us the opportunity to take advantage of our entire ecosystem — Radio One, iOne Digital as well as all of our social platforms, our podcasts.

We will use talent from all of our platforms … and bring everybody to the table.” TV One Networks is part of Urban One (formerly Radio One), which was founded in 1979 by Cathy Hughes, a former radio host who had created the popular “Quiet Storm” format in 1976.

TV One, which launched in 2004, is now in 43 million cable households and Cleo TV, which went on the air in 2019, is in 34.9 million.
