Chef Rick Stein has said he feels “a bit sorry” for TV presenter Gregg Wallace after he stepped away from hosting MasterChef following a series of misconduct complaints.
Gregg, 60, stepped back from the BBC series as it emerged that production company Banijay UK was investigating claims of alleged misconduct.
In a new interview with the Telegraph, TV chef Rick, 78, described the situation as "unfortunate", saying that he knew Gregg and he was “just a different personality to me”.
The star also clarified that he had not “got any skeletons in a cupboard” and said it would “affect [him] terribly” if he found himself in a similar situation. “It’s sort of unfortunate if you are that sort of person that you can come a bit unstuck," he explained. “I think partly he hadn’t really taken on that you can’t say certain things now.
