grand jury indicted Davis on a murder with use of a deadly weapon along with a gang enhancement over the 1996 drive-by shooting of the “All Eyez On Me” rapper on the Las Vegas strip.After Wednesday’s court hearing, Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson told reporters Davis — a self-confessed member of the South Side Compton Crips gang — will remain in jail until his next court appearance.“The proof is evident and the presumption is great that he will be convicted of first-degree murder, which allows us to ask for a no bail setting,” Wolfson said.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police served a search warrant in July at the Henderson, Nevada home of Davis’ wife, Pamela Clemons, as part of the investigation.Investigators confiscated several computers, laptops and iPads from the home, as well as .40 caliber cartridges, according to a search warrant obtained by The Post.Shakur’s death had remained unsolved since he was gunned down on Sept.
7, 1996 by someone inside a white Cadillac.Davis wrote in his memoir “Compton Street Legend” his nephew Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson was the one who fatally shot Shakur from the back seat of the car.However, Chief Deputy District Attorney Marc DiGiacomo said Davis was the “on-ground, on-site commander” and “shot caller” of the crew and he “ordered the death” of Shakur, rather than being a mere bystander.Anderson had always denied pulling the trigger.
