Tupac Shakur would have been 49 this year and a throwback to one of his first interviews, 28 years ago, shows that nothing much has changed regarding systemic racism and police brutality.

What he said as a 21-year-old in 1992 has strong echoes of what is happening in today's United States, with the rapper claiming that racism had prevented him following his acting dream.

Speaking to E! News at the beginning of the 90s, Tupac said: "When I was in the school for the arts in Baltimore, all they told me was there's no work for black actors." He left for California and the hope of finding acting work and it was here that he was cast for a role in Juice, a film about gang violence in Harlem.
