A legendary karaoke singer who delighted drinkers with regular performances at scores of Scots pubs has been hailed after tragically passing away.
John Binnie was a well-kent face in the bars of Glasgow - including the Horseshoe Bar. The 86-year-old regularly entertained revellers in boozers across the city with his impressive vocals.
He last performed at Blane Valley, on Glassford Street, before his health deteriorated, Glasgow Live reports. His son William spoke to the publication after his dad's death.John loved gardening and was well known in his local community for tidying people's gardens.
William said: "He would often say, 'I would rather die doing somebody’s garden than sitting in the house looking out the window'."Tragically, he was out gardening on Thursday, February 13, 2025, when he suffered a fatal heart attack, leaving behind partner Ann and children John, James, Carol and William.Paying an emotional tribute to his "biggest cheerleader", William, 62, added: "He was larger than life and loved people.
