Tributes are being paid to a hospital consultant who dedicated his life to his family and his profession after his death from coronavirus.

Dr Nasir Khan was 46 and lived with his wife and three children in Bolton. His son, Mahad Ali Khan, said his father would 'always look for the slightest of excuses to help those in need'.

Dr Khan was a locum doctor working at Dewsbury and District Hospital in West Yorkshire. In a statement, The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust said he fell ill with the virus a month ago.

He was admitted to the Royal Bolton Hospital on April 6, where he died on Wednesday. NHS bosses have paid tribute to his 'incredibly positive nature, his kindness and his compassion for his patients'.
