Trial of couple accused of 'Devil's breath' poison murder too complex to go ahead

The trial of a teenage girl accused of murdering a man with a poison called “Devil’s breath” is too complex to go ahead at the moment.

Diana Cristea, 18, and boyf­riend Joel Osei, 25, are charged with the murder of dancer Adrian Murphy, 43. The trial was due to start at the Old Bailey on Monday and would have been among the first since lockdown began.

This week the Lord Chief Just­ice said new trials involving juries would start at some courts, such as the Old Bailey, from next week, with social distancing in place.

But Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb ruled this trial would be too long and complex to go ahead just yet. Adrian was found dead last year in Battersea, South West London, after allegedly being given Devil’s breath, a drug called
