A trial date has been set for a teenager charged with the murder of 12-year-old Ava White in Liverpool. Ava was stabbed in the neck with a knife at around 8.30pm on November 25 while she was with friends in Liverpool city centre.
Ava was taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital after paramedics arrived at the scene, but she died a short time later. A 14-year-old boy has been charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon.
Today, he appeared at Liverpool Crown Court via videolink. The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, spoke only to confirm his name during the 15-minute hearing.
Honorary Recorder of Liverpool Judge Andrew Menary QC said a plea and trial preparation hearing would be held on February 18 next year.
