Travelling caravan group getting VIP treatment amid coronavirus lockdown, claim South Ayrshire residents

A band of travellers who entered a patch of private land are being treated like VIPs, residents say.The old railway siding at Weir Road in Ayr, has been used by the nomads before.But residents of Newton Green are appalled South Ayrshire Council is treating the travellers better than locals.They’ve been given a toilet, bin bags and a giant council “Euro bin” has been dropped off.And they are effectively in lockdown as there will be no attempt to shift them.

Six caravans and associated works vans have been parked in two rows in the cramped siding.It is thought to be the same group moved on from the John Pollock Centre at Dalmilling last Monday.One astonished resident said: “We have asked the council on Tuesday and Wednesday to get them moved,
