Travellers have been warned to follow strict hand luggage rules this summer as failure to do so is the “biggest cause of delays at airport security”.
It comes after six airports were forced to do a U-turn on the 100ml limit for liquids in cabin bags. New security scanners are being rolled out across UK airports which will bring an end to the 100ml restrictions on liquids in hand luggage.
The technology will also mean passengers will no longer have to remove certain electronic devices from their bags when passing through security.
The government had set a deadline of June 6 for the systems to be installed, although several major airports including Manchester and Heathrow were granted extensions.
