A teenager from the traveller community was left "hysterical" after cops forced her and other young people onto a train, her mum has claimed.

The girl and her 15-year-old brother were among youngsters to be herded onto trains at Victoria railway station as part of a dispersal order which was designed by cops to prevent trouble in Manchester city centre on Saturday.Eventually, the teens ended up in Grimsby - 100 miles from their mum, who said her daughter was left badly traumatised over the incident.

The mother, who wished to remain anonymous, said the girl was "crying and screaming" when she called from the railway station as she was being escorted onto the train.

The siblings had travelled from Doncaster earlier that day. Greater Manchester Police has defended its actions in the wake of criticism from the parents of some of the children involved, reports the Mirror. With her kids heading to Manchester, the mother described how she went to the Trafford Centre so she could be nearby in case they needed help.
