Trainspotting’s Sick Boy actor has been confirmed to play Sir John Major in the next series of The Crown. Jonny Lee Miller, who is best known for his role as the heroin addict in the hit 1996 film, has been cast as the former Prime Minister for season five of the Netflix show.
Major was the leader of the UK and the Conservative Party from 1990 to 1997, which ran alongside the final years of Princess Diana’s life.
The politician previously served in Margaret Thatcher’s government before eventually taking over as Prime Minister. Miller has played a number of TV and film roles since his career kicked off in the 1980s.
He is best remembered for playing Sick Boy in the film adaptation of Irvine Welsh’s novel Trainspotting, which follows a group.
