Working with stylist Karla Welch, the fearless fashionista treats clothing as a form of self-expression and art — a philosophy she inherited from her mom Diana Ross.Tracee praised her superstar mama at the 2018 Accessories Council ACE Awards, when the Black-ish actress picked up the Style Ambassador Award.
Ross credited the “Endless Love” singer for her style chops as she reflected on her relationship with fashion. “I learned from my mother that clothes are a uniform for greatness, for glamor, for agency, for power,” she said. “Clothing can allow you to change the narrative, re-frame circumstances and act as a visual marker for a larger conversation … The business of fashion has the power to shift culture the same way that the practice of style has the ability to empower an individual.”The High Note star was again celebrated for her stellar style choices in 2020 when she won the People’s Choice Award for Fashion Icon.
Ahead of the ceremony, Tracee joked in an interview with E! that she fell in love with fashion as she was “coming out of the womb.”She also opened up about how she views clothes, commenting, “Fashion in the beginning for me was armor.
