Tottenham want to sign Jesse Lingard in a £30m deal and rescue him from his Manchester United nightmare. Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is keen to be reunited with Lingard and believes he can revive his flagging career.

Lingard's future at Old Trafford looks bleak, with the England midfielder finding himself frozen out under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The 27-year-old has not started a Premier League game since January and he remains on the fringes of Solskjaer's first team squad.It is understood he was left seething when Solskjaer informed him he wasn't even among the substitutes for United's opening league game of the season at home to Crystal Palace.To make matters worse he has tried to engineer showdown talks with Solskjaer to discover if he is.
