Tory Lanez has filed a motion seeking a new trial after being found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion, Rolling Stone reports.
Lanez faces more than 20 years in prison following the December 2022 ruling, in which a jury found him guilty of assault with a semiautomatic handgun, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
Lanez' appeal is based largely on social media activity with his attorney Jose Baez telling TMZ that jurors in the trial were "erroneously allowed" to see an Instagram comment.
Baez claims that this comment, which reportedly shows Lanez stating that Megan’s former friend Kelsey Harris was not the shooter, was posted from the musician's account by his content creator Joshua Farias.
