Top jockey Paddy Brennan has been taken to hospital after a fall at the 2020 Cheltenham Festival. The 38-year-old came off Jarveys Plate in the Northern Trust Company Novices' Handicap Chase, the sixth race on Champion Day.

Racing in first time blinkers, Brennan's mount ploughed through the third fence, in an incident which also brought down Knight In Dubai.

Imperial Aura went on to win the 2m 4f contest, as the rider was attended to by medics. Brennan was then taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for X-rays. "Paddy has hurt his ankle," said one of his employers and trainer Fergal O'Brien. "He has gone to hospital.
