Top Boy star Jasmine Jobson has landed herself a lead role as British-Somali boxer Ramla Ali in a movie biopic on her life.The movie is titled In The Shadows and is directed by Anthony Wonke, with filming currently taking place in London.The biopic was originally set to feature Black Panther star Letitia Wright, who was initially cast as Ali last year.
As well as Jasmine, also starring in the film are Peaky Blinders actor Finn Cole as Ramla's husband Richard and Gershwyn Eustache Jr who is playing her boxing coach.
In The Shadows will tell the real-life story of refugee Ramla, who secretly trained to become a boxer, without telling her strict Muslim parents in London.
She defied all the odds and ended up becoming the first Somali-British professional boxing champion. The film will also feature her love story with now-husband Richard Moore, who she first met at a boxing club, with him ending up converting to Islam as a true testament to his love for her.
