His tragic death was confirmed by his publicist Sylvia Weiner, who confirmed that he passed away in New York, which was the singer's hometown.Tony began his journey with singing when he was a youngster and, after serving with the US Army during the war, he studied in the American Theatre Wing.
He was discovered in 1949 by Bob Hope and shortly after had two hit singles in 1951.Tony had released over 70 albums and even took home a Grammy for one of his most famous songs I Left My Heart In San Francisco.
The singer was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2016 which he kept quiet until his family confirmed the news in 2021. Tony leaves behind his four children and his wife who were together for more than 20 years before they officially tied the knot in 2007.
