Tony Adams has suggested Mikel Arteta may have made a big mistake in selling Emiliano Martinez in favour of Bernd Leno. Martinez had been an Arsenal player since 2010 but emerged on the scene as a first team contender last season, after Leno suffered an injury.
The shot-stopper went on to win the FA Cup and Community Shield with the Gunners, but found himself replaced by Leno as soon as the German returned to fitness.
Martinez promptly left Arsenal in search of regular football and was snapped up by Aston Villa, for whom he is now a first team starter under Dean Smith.
Adams was pleased with what he saw from Martinez last season, and has suggested Arteta made have sold the wrong keeper this summer transfer window.
