Tommy Cannon to play priest in Bobby Ball's character's funeral in Not Going Out

Tommy Cannon is being lined up by Lee Mack to star in the next series of Not Going Out, it's been reported. Lee wants the comedian, 82, to play the priest at the funeral of Bobby Ball's character Frank, after Bobby tragically died from Covid in October, aged 76.

Frank was Lee's character's father in the BBC Two sitcom, played by Bobby, who rose to fame as one half of comedy double act Cannon and Ball. “I’m thinking of starting the next series with a funeral," Lee told The Sun. "And Tommy — I’m thinking of having him as the priest, and also bring some comics of that generation. “Bring in all his mates, as in my dad’s mates, who I’ve never met.
