Tom Brady Taking Leave of Absence from Buccaneers to 'Deal With Some Personal Things'

Tom Brady is taking a leave of absence from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. On Thursday (August 11), Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles announced that the 45-year-old quarterback is taking some time off from training camp to handle some “personal” matters. He’ll be taking … he’ll be back somewhere around after Tennessee,” Coach Bowles shared in a press conference, according to NBC Sports. Coach Bowles revealed that Tom will remain away from the team through the Buccaneers’ second preseason game with the Tennessee Titans on August 20. “He’s going to deal with some personal things,” the coach added. Coach Bowles went on to share that Tom had discussed taking this leave of absence with him before training camp began back in July. “We allotted this time because he wanted to get in and get chemistry with the guys and go through two weeks of training camp, knowing he wasn’t going to play the first two games,” Coach Bowles explained.

He added that the reason for Tom‘s break was for “something he needs to handle.” Coach Bowles also noted that he has a “pretty high” level of confidence that Tom will return and be ready for the regular-season opening game on September 11.
