Hearts are bracing themselves for a fresh approach from Blackpool for derby hero Toby Sibbick after booting out a bid worth upwards of £600,000 from the Seasiders. The Championship club failed with an initial offer for the defender after he opened his Hearts account against Hibs on Sunday - but are serious about trying to tempt him back to England.

Seasiders boss Mick McCarthy is a huge fan of the 23-year-old who caught his eye with Barnsley while he was managing Cardiff City.

The veteran boss is desperate to add to his squad which sits second bottom of the Championship and three points from safety with just seven days remaining in the transfer window.Hearts have no interest in selling Sibbick who still has over two years left on his contract after signing for £250,000 from The Tykes 12 months ago.

But they could have their arm twisted by a huge bid if it entered the seven-figures category. Record Sport understands the player - who had a loan spell at Hearts three years ago - is settled at Tynecastle where he has established himself as a regular in the backline and is happy to continue his development in Gorgie. He’s started the last six games and put the icing on the cake of Sunday’s 3-0 Scottish Cup win over rivals Hibs with a stunning injury time goal.
