Toby Alderweireld fears he is facing a lengthy lay-off with a groin injury. Tottenham defender Alderweireld limped out of his team’s 2-0 win over Manchester City on Saturday and is undergoing scans which will reveal the extent of the damage and his absence.
But it immediately hands Spurs an issue ahead of their Europa League tie with Ludogorets on Thursday as new signing Joe Rodon joined after the UEFA deadline.
Alderweireld, 31, could also be in serious danger of missing games in the busy festive period when the fixture list piles up and that leaves Jose Mourinho with a major problem.
The Spurs boss admitted his fears over the Belgian when asked if he could be facing a long-term injury after the win over City.
