Tina Turner’s home has been inundated with floral tributes as fans pay homage to the pop legend following her death. The iconic singer died aged 83 at her villa in Küsnach near Zurich, Switzerland, following a long, unspecified illness, it was announced on Wednesday.
Tina, who was born Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennessee, rose to fame in a band alongside abusive ex husband Ike Turner and went on to become one of rock’s most famous voices - with classic hits including Proud Mary and The Best.
She has won eight competitive Grammy Awards and has a star on both the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the St Louis Walk of Fame.
In a statement announcing her death, her representative said: "Tina Turner, the 'Queen of Rock'n Roll' has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland. "With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model." Fans paid tribute to the rock icon by leaving flowers and special messages outside her Switzerland home.
