2019 movie “Uncut Gems” starring Adam Sandler, and the 2017 thriller “Good Time” starring Robert Pattinson. According to Variety, “Marty Supreme” is a fictional story inspired by the real professional ping pong player Marty Reisman, who won several medals at the World Table Tennis Championships between the late 1940s and the 1960s.
Reisman, who died in 2012 at age 82, also became the oldest player to win an open national competition in a racket sport in 1997, when he won the United States National Hardbat Championship at age 67.
Tyler The Creator will also be in “Marty Supreme,” and Fran Drescher will play Chalamet’s mom. Details about Paltrow’s role remain under wraps, although clearly she’s playing a love interest to Chalamet’s character – or at least, someone with whom he has a tryst.
This steamy role is the “Goop” founder’s first return to the big screen in five years, as her last movie was 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame,” where she reprised her role as Pepper Potts, Iron Man’s (Robert Downey Jr.) love interest.
