Tim Westwood has stepped down from his show on Capital Xtra following allegations of sexual misconduct.The 64-year-old former BBC Radio 1 DJ faces multiple claims of sexual misconduct from women who say he allegedly abused his position in the music industry to exploit them.Westwood has strongly denied the allegations, with a spokesperson for the DJ saying they were completely false.Today it was announced he will not be presenting the radio show until further notice.A statement from Global on Wednesday said: "Following the claims that have recently come to light, Tim Westwood has stepped down from his show until further notice."The BBC and the Guardian reported that they had received “detailed accounts” from seven women in a joint investigation into the former BBC Radio 1 star.The alleged victims accuse Westwood of predatory and unwanted sexual behaviour after meeting the DJ through his work.Four women have alleged that he groped them while they were having their picture taken with him at events, while three others have accused him of opportunistic sexual behaviour, according to The Guardian.They quote one woman as saying: “Someone taking advantage of my naivety and lack of confidence isn’t something that I should have to carry with shame.”It’s reported that the women decided to tell their stories after anonymous allegations concerning Westwood’s inappropriate behaviour circulated on social media in June 2020.The Guardian and the BBC report that some of the alleged victims, who are all black, didn’t report their experiences because they felt that they wouldn’t be taken seriously.None of the women have reported their stories to the police, and have all asked to remain anonymous.Westwood began hosting BBC Radio 1’s first
