TikTok Calls Report Of Potential Sale To Elon Musk “Pure Fiction”

Will TikTok sell to Elon Musk? Bloomberg News reported that China was considering options in the event that a new law goes into effect to force ByteDance to sell the platform or face a ban on U.S.

app stores. Among the options that Chinese authorities are considering: selling to the billionaire owner of X, who has become one of President-elect Donald Trump‘s key allies.

But a spokesperson for TikTok said, “We are not commenting on Bloomberg writing pure fiction.” Bloomberg reported that the contingency plans also were in the preliminary stages. During oral arguments last week, TikTok’s counsel said that if implemented, the social media site would go dark on Sunday, January 19, unless the law were struck down or put on hold.
