'Tiger King' Star Joe Exotic Resentenced to 21 Years in Prison

Joe Exotic is receiving a resentencing. The 58-year-old Tiger King star was resentenced on Friday (January 28) to 21 years in prison in the murder-for-hire case involving his rival, AP reported. Click inside to read more… The former zookeeper was sentenced in January of 2020 to 22 years in prison after he was convicted of trying to hire two different men to kill Carole Baskin.

A three-judge panel for the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said the conviction should have been counted as one since both murder-for-hire plots targeted one person.

His sentencing was taken down by one year, and he is requesting release from prison. Prosecutors said he offered $10,000 to an undercover FBI agent to kill Carole Baskin during a recorded meeting in 2017.

His attorneys have said he wasn’t being serious. Joe Exotic‘s tale was explored in the breakout pandemic era docu-series hit Tiger King in 2020, followed by a sequel series. Carole Baskin has just responded to the dramatized series, starring Kate McKinnon, about her life.
