Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage (born March 5, 1963), better known by his stage name Joe Exotic, is an American former zoo operator, internet personality, musician, and convicted felon. The former owner and operator of the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park (a.k.a. G. W. Zoo) in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, Maldonado-Passage had claimed to be the most prolific breeder of tigers in the United States. He twice unsuccessfully ran for public office, first for President of the United States in 2016 as an independent, and then for Governor of Oklahoma in 2018 as a Libertarian.

Tiger King's Carole Baskin Has Won Control of Joe Exotic's Zoo from Jeff Lowe

In a plot twist no one saw coming, Tiger King's is taking over control of her nemesis former zoo in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. So, how exactly did this happen?

Apparently, Big Cat Rescue Corp. was granted ownership of the zoo as part of a trademark judgement against Joe Exotic. Basically, Carole won the judgement years ago but Joe never paid her the $1 million he owed.

Flash forward to now, and a judge is saying that Joe's transfer of the zoo to Jeff Lowe is fraudulent, which means Carole is taking over the land to—as puts it—"help satisfy that $1 mil judgment from the old trademark lawsuit." Jeff has 120 days to vacate the property (note: he gets to keep the animals), but apparently he's not too upset about it and has big plans for a new park.
