John Christopher Depp II (born June 9, 1963) is an American actor, singer, producer, and musician. He has been nominated for ten Golden Globe Awards, winning one for Best Actor for his performance of the title role in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2008), and has been nominated for three Academy Awards for Best Actor, among other accolades. He is regarded as one of the world's biggest film stars. Depp made his film debut in the 1984 film A Nightmare on Elm Street, before rising to prominence as a teen idol on the television series 21 Jump Street (1987–1990). He had a supporting role in Oliver Stone's 1986 war film Platoon and played the title character in the 1990 romantic fantasy Edward Scissorhands.

Tickets for Jeff Beck's Sage show in Gateshead sell out after Johnny Depp guest announcement

Sage in Gateshead tomorrow evening (June 2), with the last remaining tickets for the show rapidly selling this morning. The 77-year-old rock and roll star from Wallington will land in the North East tomorrow as part of his widely-renowned tour of the UK with special guest Sharon Corr.

However, it was also revealed today that the music icon will be joined on stage for the remainder of his tour by American actor Johnny Depp.

The Kentucky native surprised audience members at Sheffield City Hall on Sunday, turning up to play a number of covers alongside his long-time friend just 24 hours on from his six-week defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard. And any tickets that remained for the gig at Gateshead's historic Sage venue were sharply swept up by fans of Beck, with the show tomorrow night now completely sold out.
