The Met Office has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning for parts of Wales as well as South and North West England. It comes shortly after the UK experienced record-breaking high temperatures amid a scorching heatwave.
The yellow warning covers some major cities including Brighton, Portsmouth, Cardiff, Gloucester and Chester. From today, members of the public should be wary of slow-moving heavy showers and thunderstorms which could lead to difficult driving conditions and road closures.
There is also a chance that flooding and lightning strikes could occur, increasing the chances of delays and cancellations to train and bus services. The Met Office said: "A largely cloudy day across the region, with scattered showers. "Showers perhaps heavy and they may also merge into some longer spells of rain.
