A brutal thug who nearly killed a woman in a horrific unprovoked glass attack at her local pub has been jailed for six years.
James Booth smashed a pint glass into Lucy Nobile’s face after she tried to stop him from abusing a member of staff, a court heard.
Shocking pictures reveal the devastating injuries the 20-year-old - who branded her attacker a "scumbag" - suffered. Booth drove the base of the glass deep into the community volunteer’s face and throat at the Hole in the Wall pub, in Colchester, Essex.
An 8in shard wedged deep into Lucy’s neck whilst she was enjoying a night out with pals. Doctors later revealed if the glass had gone just 5mm further it would have severed her carotid artery and killed her.
