Thousands of people applying for a single job vacancy could become the new normal if Boris Johnson doesn't act now to save jobs, Gordon Brown has warned.
He also called for his Tory successor to own up to his past mistakes - and apologise for getting things wrong rather than doubling down on his errors. "He speaks a lot of Latin, but the two words you'll never hear him say are 'mea culpa'," Mr Brown said. "He'll never say I'm to blame for something and I think an admission of what went wrong is sometimes necessary before you can get things right." It comes as Mr Brown launches a radical UK-wide campaign to stop the coronavirus fallout triggering massive unemployment.
