With a new season of Love Island just around the corner, the show has already made headline news after it was announced that this year’s contestants would no longer be dressed by fast-fashion brands – instead, they’ll be sharing second-hand clothing from e-tailer eBay UK.
What’s more, the cast won’t only be wearing high street, but you’ll spot them in everything from vintage finds to pre-loved designer items, allowing them to showcase their personal style whilst tapping into the throwback trends that have made a comeback in recent years.
To source the clothing, eBay has recruited celebrity stylist Amy Bannerman, whose clientele includes everyone from Dua Lipa and Rita Ora to Queer Eye star Jonathan Van Ness.
While Amy predicts that many of this year’s Islanders will opt for brightly coloured clothing unisex styles and timeless classics like the little-black-dress, a look she’s expecting to dominate the villa this summer is the Y2K trend, with styles inspired by the early 2000’s. “With all the early 00’s favourites making a comeback, this will without a doubt be one of the biggest trends this season,” Amy says, adding: “I’ve seen designers including Versace and Blumarine both reference this era on the runway”.
