Ben Shephard paused This Morning to share "breaking" baby name news from the release of 2025's trending list, a vital read for parents-to-be in search of naming inspiration.
The Tipping Point host, aged 49, highlighted that Olivia remains a top choice for baby girls, continuing its popularity streak, while Mohammed retains its status as the frontrunner for boys' names for another consecutive year.
Ben shared with viewers: "Now then, breaking naming news. The UK's top baby names have been revealed. Olivia is the most popular name for baby girls in England and Wales for the eighth year in a row." He continued by unveiling the runners-up: "Amelia and Isla came in second and third," as Cat disclosed Mohammed's ranking on the boys' list.
She informed the audience: "Mohammed knocked Noah off the top spot, having been the most second popular name the year prior," reports the Mirror. "The name Benjamin makes the cut," Ben chimed in, indicating his name had a place in the rankings, prompting Cat's surprised reaction: "Are you?" He confirmed to her: "Yeah, Benjamin came in at 53rd on the list." His co-star seemed uncertain about celebrating Ben's naming position at 53rd as he went further, lamenting: "There's some bad news for Catherine's though, you didn't make the top 100." Jesting at her own uniqueness, the former SMTV Live star quipped: "I'm just rare; I'm like a rare exotic bird." Meanwhile, Ben retorted with a lighthearted hint of concern: "I think you're going the same way as the Nigels.
