The Gunners were knocked out of the FA Cup at St Mary’s on Saturday after a poor performance. Mikel Arteta named a slightly rotated side from the team that beat Newcastle last week, with Pepe receiving his 14th start of the season.
The winger has been out of form this season and put in a disappointing showing on the south coast, doing little to convince Arteta that he deserves regular minutes in the league.
The forward had the chance to prove he belongs in Arteta’s plans instead of Willian, who has also been disappointing this season.
