They're flying high in the ninth tier of English football, but neighbours aren't happy

A non-league football club and neighbours are set to play out their third row in three years after an argument about a shed.

West Didsbury and Chorlton AFC, whose senior men’s team is currently flying high in ninth-tier north west counties premier division, installed a ‘timber outbuilding’ in summer 2023 to serve hot drinks and snacks to supporters.

But neighbours have objected to plans to keep the ‘tea bar’ and a metal shipping container, used for storage, at the club’s Brookburn Road home for five more years.

Residents say they’re worried about ‘the use of the outbuilding until 11pm to serve food and drinks’, according to council documents summarising public objections.
