The Met Office has announced that fortunate stargazers could catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights this weekend. Otherwise known as the Aurora Borealis, the Northern Lights are expected to show up mainly in northern parts of the UK, however, the Met Office highlighted that it could also reach parts of England, including Greater Manchester.
The highest chance of seeing the phenomenon will take place on Saturday night. It comes just days after the Northern Lights were spotted across parts of the UK last weekend, being seen as far as parts of central of England. Depending on cloud cover, there's a good chance of visible auroras in northern areas of the UK later on Saturday night." If you want to increase your chances of seeing the Northern Lights, you should head to an area that has clear skies and is free from light pollution.
Fortunately, you won't need any special equipment as the Lights can be seen with the naked eye very clearly. The Met Office added on its space weather site: "From later on 11th Nov until 12th Nov, Minor or Moderate geomagnetic storming is expected to develop due to the arrival of a coronal mass ejection, with a chance of Strong geomagnetic storming occurring.
