The Yorkshire Vet wouldn't be the hit it is without familiar faces like Jean and Steve Green, known as Britain's oldest farming couple.
Since 2015, when the programme started airing on Channel 5, the Greens have become a staple, although Steve, who's 95, revealed that the show "didn't catch on at first" but then it "suddenly took off".
Series editor Mike Sinclair has been quoted saying: "Our viewers absolutely adore the Greens. They go down a storm whenever they are featured in an episode. "They're loved because they're no-nonsense, traditional Yorkshire farmers, who somehow seem totally unaffected by the modern world." The couple had a connection to Alf Wight, the original 'Yorkshire Vet' and otherwise known as James Herriot, and maintain a special bond with his former protege Peter Wright, which deeply connects with the audience.
Living at Stoneybrough Farm in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, Steve and Jean, who's 72, manage a herd of dairy calves, dedicating their days to caring for the livestock and their land.
