The Wonder Years is coming back to TV, 27 years after wrapping up

reports Deadline.This time around the show will still be set in the Sixties but will instead feature an all-black family. Unlike the original which deliberately had no location so as to resemble any town in America, this new series, if it goes ahead, will be set in the deep south.The official statement describes the series as: ‘How a Black middle-class family in Montgomery, Alabama in the turbulent late 1960s, the same era as the original series, made sure it was The Wonder Years for them too.’Writer Saladin K.

Patterson, who is best known for working on The Big Bang Theory has been roped in, to hammer out the script while the original star of the show Fred Savage has signed on as Executive Producer and will direct the pilot.
