The Weeknd's Blinding Lights sets US Top 10 chart record on the Hot 100

The Weeknd's chart-topping smash Blinding Lights has set a new chart record in America, becoming the first song to spend an entire year inside the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

First released in November 2019, the track eventually climbed to Number 1 in the US on April 4 last year and has so far spent a total of 64 weeks in the Hot 100.

In the latest chart - dated March 13 - to be published today (March 9), Blinding Lights will remain in the Top 10, marking its 52nd consecutive week in the top flight and will enter the history books as the first song in the Hot 100’s history to spend a year in the Top 10.

The runaway success of Blinding Lights was further boosted in February this year, when The Weeknd performed it as the closing number
