Selena Gomez is reportedly ‘irked’ by the similarities between her life and the controversial HBO series The Idol, starred in and written by her ex-boyfriend The Weeknd.

The show, created by The Weeknd, also known as Abel Tesfaye, and Sam Levinson, follows a pop star named Jocelyn, played by Lily-Rose Depp, whose life takes a dramatic turn after she encounters nightclub owner and cult leader Tedros, played by The Weeknd.

While the show initially grabbed attention due to rumoured controversies behind the scenes, recent discussions have focused on whether the series takes inspiration from the lives of real celebrities, including the likes of Britney Spears and now Selena Gomez.
