The Wanted have re-released a new version of their 2011 Comic Relief song Gold Forever in honour of their late bandmate, Tom Parker.
It has been a week since Tom was laid to rest after he passed away on March 30 at the age of 33 after a two year battle with brain cancer. The Wanted's 2011 hit Gold Forever could be heard playing in a clip filmed after Tom's funeral ceremony outside St Francis of Assis Church while fans lined the streets and emotionally clapped.
And The Wanted have now made the decision to release a stripped-back version of the song on streaming services. The boyband, Island Records and the song's writers and producers will donate all proceeds from the re-release to The Brain Tumour Charity. The UK-based charity is dedicated to funding research, raising awareness and providing support and information to people with brain tumours.
As the track played from tall speakers during Tom's funeral, a group of pallbearers could be seen carrying the coffin in front of a procession of guests as they slowly made their way out of the church.
