A man viciously attacked by a stranger as he walked to the shop has told how he's now scared to leave the house alone. Kaspian Oaken, 39, was left with a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain following the assault on south Wales.

He said: "I felt absolutely safe before but now I am locking the door and trying to avoid going out on my own, especially at night.

I won't go out on my own at night at the moment." South Wales Police confirmed they were investigating the alleged assault, which happened on Court Road in the Cadoxton area of Barry on Saturday evening, February 1.

The police force said the person responsible for the incident has been described as being a 6ft 1 ins, white male who was wearing a full grey tracksuit, with a hood.
