A fly-tipper who was fined after being caught dumping rubbish from her Fiat Punto onto a street has defended herself on Facebook - using the excuse that the 'tip was shut'.

Keighley Whyte was caught red-handed on council CCTV dumping the waste on June 11, 2020. The camera captured her driving onto New Viaduct Street - next to the Etihad football stadium - before she parked up and two females got out of the car. Investigations by waste management company Biffa found Whyte, 27, was the owner of the Fiat. She failed to turn up for an initial court hearing, but after a warrant was issued for her arrest, she pleaded guilty to fly-tipping at Manchester Magistrates' Court last Friday (March 4).

She was ordered to pay a total of £614 for the offence. But Whyte has now tried to defend herself, saying the 'tip was shut' at the time she dumped the rubbish.
